The First Third World Lesbian Writers Conference was on February 24, 1979 at the New York Women’s Center. The conference featured prominent feminist writer Audre Lorde, Yvonne Flowers and Robin Christian. The conference gave marginalized women of color and lesbian writers a chance to speak on the feminist material they’ve written. Many of the topics discussed centered around one lesson: writing is power.
